Alliance Aviation signs another 5-year BHP deal

Alliance Aviation Services (ASX:AQX) has executed a new 5-year contract with long-term client BHP Nickel West — a subsidiary of Australian mining giant BHP Group (ASX:BHP).

Under the new contract, Alliance will be the primary air charter services provider for Nickel West operations. Alliance says the contract represents further evidence of the company being regarded by its clients as the ‘pre-eminent’ contract charter operator in Australia.

BHP Nickel West represents Alliance’s first client in Western Australia, with services beginning in 2006.

The aviation company notes an additional 3 aircraft will be added to its Perth-based fleet during the remainder of the current financial year.

Alliance Aviation Managing Director Scott McMillan says: “We are delighted to be able to continue to supply air services to our first-ever client in WA, BHP Nickel West.

This contract award is further evidence of Alliance’s history of outstanding customer retention and proof that our staff continue to deliver safe and industry-leading on-time air charter services.”

Today’s announcement follows Alliance’s contract extension with BHP’s Olympic Dam arm in South Australia, as reported on 24 November.

Alliance Aviation owns, operates, and maintains a fleet of 13 jet aircraft in Perth and directly employs 204 staff in Western Australia.

BHP Nickel West is part of BHP’s Minerals Australia business and represents a fully integrated mine-to-market business operating in various locations across Western Australia.
